Isler Group LLC is continuing to provide tax and accounting services during the COVID-19 pandemic, while also taking steps to protect the health and safety of our employees and our community. We are closely monitoring local, state and federal announcements and recommendations. During this time of uncertainty, our goal is to be here for our clients, as well as protect our staff to the best of our ability.
Beginning March 20th, we will be on a modified remote-work schedule with some CPAs and a portion of our staff working from home, leaving a limited number of CPAs and staff in the office. Our office will be open from 8am-5pm Monday through Friday and closed on the weekends until further notice. As a precaution, we will not be having any in person client meetings until further notice. If your situation warrants a face to face meeting, those appointments will be scheduled with your CPA on a very limited basis. You will be able to reach our CPAs and staff via phone and email during this time. Our digital systems allow us to securely work remotely, including preparation of tax returns, financial statements, etc.
If you need to give us any documentation you have the following options:
- Scan and upload documents to our secure Isler portal. If you are not set up on the portal and need access, please contact our office at (541) 798-5602 or email ed@edgilmancpa.com.
- You may mail your documents to our office: 128 E. Front St. Merrill, OR 97633.
- You may fax documents to our office at 541-798-5132. Please use a cover page notifying us who the documents need to go to.
- You may use the mail slot next to our front door.
- If none of these options are feasible, we will have our front door unlocked to drop off at our front reception desk and your CPA will contact you once they have reviewed your information.
If your returns are ready to be delivered, we will be contacting you by phone to set up a secure way for you to sign your documents remotely, if possible, and electronically send you any necessary payment vouchers to send to the taxing authority. The hard copy of your tax return and your original documents will be mailed to you at the address we have on file. If there are extenuating circumstances that you need to come into our office in person, we ask that you maintain safe social distancing of 3-6’ from Isler personnel.
We are confident that we will continue to meet our client needs with this arrangement, while minimizing exposure to our CPAs and staff, our clients, and our community. We have plans in place which we are quickly implementing and will be able to serve your tax and accounting needs without interruption. We are also taking steps in our offices to minimize the chances of spreading the contagion.
We are aware of the federal and state governments’ intent to stimulate the economy and delay tax filing and tax payments. As of March 20th, the deadline for income tax filing and making tax payments has been extended to July 15, 2020. We are closely monitoring these developments and how they might impact our clients and our community. As new laws and regulations are set in place by lawmakers, we will continue to keep you informed. We will be posting updates on our website as they become available. We are encouraging all taxpayers who may have tax refunds to file now to get your refunds.
The Oregon Department of Revenue issued this news bulletin yesterday, March 19th:
“On March 18, 2020, the IRS issued a news release (Notice 2020‐17) allowing all individual and other noncorporate tax filers to defer up to $1 million of federal income tax (including self‐employment tax) payments, which are typically due on April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020, without penalties or interest. The guidance also allows corporate taxpayers a similar deferment of up to $10 million of federal income tax payments, which are usually due on April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020, without penalties or interest. This guidance does not change the April 15 filing deadline. The Oregon Department of Revenue has received several questions asking if Oregon is going to provide similar relief. Now that the department knows what the IRS is providing, we are evaluating our options and authority under the statutes to provide relief for Oregon and its taxpayers. We expect a decision to be made soon.
The department will send a news bulletin as soon as a decision has been made.”We are continuing to monitor this situation and will keep you updated as we are made aware of a final decision from Oregon.
Due to this ever-changing situation, please understand that there may be some delays in our workflow, but rest assured that we will continue to work diligently to be efficient and timely in our obligations to you. We encourage everyone to visit our website gilmanandco.com and Facebook Page, Isler Group, LLC for updates as they become available. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We are here to help you, your businesses, organizations, and families get through these uncertain times. Thank you for putting your trust in us.
